Things to do in Nelson
Kayaking
Whether your a novice or seasoned paddler, there is plenty of opportunity (and space) for kayaking activities on the Glenelg river. Only minutes from Kywong Caravan Park, its a great way to get out on the water and explore the surrounding National Park from a different perspective. Either bring your own gear or speak with our local hire shop to rent the equipment you need for a day on the water.

Fishing
Being on a river has its perks which includes access to great local fishing. A typical catch might include Bream, Mulloway, Estuary Perch and Mullett which you can cook up in our camp kitchen. However, depending on whether you're on the Victorian or South Australian side of the border you may need a permit to fish.

River Boat Cruises
Nelson River Boat Cruises provide a great way to explore the Glenelg River. Try a different perspective and take in the sights from the water, up on their upper deck or from their enclosed cabin. You can also visit the Princess Margaret Rose Caves via the cruise.
Hiking
There are numerous bush trails touting unspoiled scenery and native animals galore. Some popular trails include Livingstone Island Nature Walk, the Gorge Walk, Sapling Creek Loop and the trek up Mount Schank which has has 360 degree views stretching across the ocean and to Mount Gambier.
Boating
Whether your boating for pleasure, searching for a great fishing spot or taking the jet ski out for some fun, the Glenelg River is a great spot. There is a dedicated ski zone at the Northern end of the town that has a boat ramp and trailer parking area for your convenience.
Bird Watching
Our surrounding bush land is home to a huge variety of bird life making it a great place for bird watchers and nature lovers alike. Take a stroll through the bush and you might find some of the local protected species such as the Rufus Bristle Bird and Hooded Plovers or you might just wake up to a Fairy Wren darting around your tent.

We've tried our best to give you lots of information about Nelson and all the activities available, but if you want to know even more, the Nelson Visitor Information Centre is the best place to go.
